This is a subject that brought a lot of opposition. The new spacing rules for the vines plantation has been recently enforced despite a strong diseagrement from a part of the winegrowers in Champagne.
Whilst the pandemic hit hard the wine industry, affecting both the local sales and exportations, the situation seems to be back on track with Champagne sales for 2021 planned to be higher than 2019.
The case is well known: an ice cream with Champagne as an ingredient was briefly sold by Aldi. The Comité Champagne opposed Aldi the status of Champagne as a Protected Designation of Origin. After several decisions brought by the German and european authorities, the Munich Higher Regional Court gives credit to the world's most famous PDO.
Following the path of the whole wine industry, Champagne got heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Howerver, it seems that the world's most famous sparkling wine is bouncing back.
